This program has two components with grants awarded on a one-year
basis.
Basic Skills Training
A company can receive up to $450/employee to improve basic
skill levels of new or existing employees. EXAMPLES OF
BASIC SKILLS include, but are not limited to, communications
and teamwork; problem solving; quality assurance; word
processing; spreadsheet; graphics software training; workplace
behavior; blueprint reading; machine maintenance; and safety.
On-the-job orientation and adult literacy are not eligible
activities under Basic Skills Training.
Information
Technology Training
A company can receive up to $700/employee to train new
or existing employees, who are information technology professionals,
or front-line employees or supervisors of manufacturing
companies. EXAMPLES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY training
include, but are not limited to, technology support; information
security; database development; network administration;
system analysts; management information systems; website
design & development; applied manufacturing technology
(i.e., CAD, CNC, PLC). Introductory level training does
not qualify, such as, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics
software training.
