The process of training new hires, reorienting current associates, and providing technical support has gradually been evolving and changing over the last decade. Since the current work environment began almost a year ago the situation has made an even more dramatic shift. The method of training employees and customers in a conference room face-to-face is no longer cost effective – and in some cases not even possible. Companies are also facing a loss of institutional knowledge as associates retire or move on to other opportunities. In an ever-changing business environment, video is a powerful tool that can help address the increasing challenge of training/reorienting associates and providing technical support to customers. Learn how to best utilize videos within your organization along with the many – and varied – benefits of doing so.
Benefits of Training videos
- Employees retain more information over the long term from videos
- Videos can be easily accessed anywhere, anytime and as often as necessary in the future
- More cost effective for companies than having in-person training sessions (either on site or remotely having associates travel around the country)
- Can accommodate various learning styles
- More engaging, entertaining, and inspiring
- Uniform experience among all participants; the lessons do not change from group to group with a different trainer.
Questions to Consider as You Begin the Process
- Who is your audience?
- What are the topics you want to cover?
- Who in your organization can share that information?
- What visuals can be used?
Examples of previously produced training videos:
- Just Born Quality Confections Reorientation video
- Follett, LLC Running No Ice and Webinar clips
Who Should Attend?
HR managers, Technical Trainers, Production supervisors, Safety Supervisors, Customer Care/Technical Support supervisors
This webinar will be beneficial to all attendees because they will leave with a better understanding of how video can be useful and effective in training associates, as well as providing support to customers. They will also have a better understanding of what steps should be taken to begin creating a video library for their organization.
