The Lehigh Valley continues to prove that strong communities, built on a foundation of manufacturing excellence and shared pride, create experiences that draw national attention. Coca-Cola Park, home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, has been voted the #1 Best Minor League Ballpark in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards for 2026.
This recognition, first reported by Lehigh Valley Business (Stacy Wescoe, March 25, 2026), highlights the park’s consistent ability to deliver memorable experiences for fans. Nominations were curated by subject matter experts and editors, with the final decision made through public voting.
IronPigs President and General Manager Kurt Landes shared the community-wide pride in the win: “This award is a testament to so many organizations and individuals who have proudly supported the IronPigs over the years. To be America’s #1 Minor League Ballpark is something our entire community can and should be proud of.”
Since opening in 2008 as the IronPigs’ home, Coca-Cola Park has earned repeated accolades. It became one of the fastest Minor League teams to welcome more than 10 million fans through its gates. In 2025, the IronPigs once again led all of Minor League Baseball in total attendance (drawing 585,167 fans) and average attendance (8,242 per game, marking the third straight season atop total attendance and the ninth time leading in one or both categories since the team’s debut. No other MiLB ballpark averaged over 8,000 fans that season.
At MRC, we see this success as more than just great baseball. It reflects the same energy, collaboration, and forward momentum that define the Lehigh Valley’s modern manufacturing story.
The region rose from the decline of its historic steel industry, once anchored by the mighty Bethlehem Steel plants, to rebuild a diversified, resilient economy. Today, manufacturing remains a cornerstone, contributing roughly 16% of the Lehigh Valley’s GDP (well above the national average of about 11%), with output recently climbing toward $9 billion. This strength has helped drive the region’s overall GDP past $57 billion in recent data, supporting record employment levels and rising median household incomes.
That industrial heritage and ongoing innovation create the stable, prosperous foundation that allows quality-of-life assets like Coca-Cola Park to flourish. Families and visitors enjoy not only thrilling Triple-A baseball (as the Phillies’ affiliate) but also year-round events, from holiday light displays to concerts, all within a compact, fan-friendly setting that feels welcoming and accessible.
The Lehigh Valley complements these experiences with a rich mix of amenities that make the region a place where people want to live, work, and play:
– World-class education — Home to respected institutions including Lehigh University, Lafayette College, Moravian University, Muhlenberg College, DeSales University, Cedar Crest College, and strong community colleges that supply skilled talent to manufacturers and beyond.
– Entertainment and culture – Vibrant arts scenes, festivals like Musikfest, historic sites, and venues such as SteelStacks that honor the past while embracing new creativity.
– Family fun – Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom and the Lehigh Valley Zoo offer thrills for all ages.
– Convenient access – Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) provides easy regional and national connections, supporting business growth and tourism alike.
– Outdoor and community appeal – Parks, trails, and a balanced lifestyle that pairs economic opportunity with genuine livability.
These elements work together. A robust manufacturing sector generates good jobs and economic stability. Colleges and training programs,, areas where MRC supports through resources for small and mid-sized manufacturers, build the skilled workforce that keeps innovation flowing. And amenities like Coca-Cola Park strengthen community bonds, attract talent, and showcase the region’s spirit to outsiders.
Just as the Lehigh Valley transformed former industrial sites into thriving assets, the IronPigs and Coca-Cola Park turned a former brownfield into a destination that consistently outperforms peers. This latest national honor is more than a sports win, it’s a reflection of a region that refuses to rest on its history and instead builds something better: a place of opportunity, enjoyment, and shared success.
At MRC, we’re proud to support the manufacturers who power this momentum. Whether through lean manufacturing guidance, workforce development, or connecting businesses to resources, our mission aligns with the same collaborative drive that fills the stands at Coca-Cola Park night after night.
Congratulations to the IronPigs organization, their partners, employees, and the thousands of fans who voted and attend games in record numbers. Your success lifts the entire Lehigh Valley.
Here’s to many more memorable seasons, and to the continued growth of a region that proves resilience and excellence go hand in hand.
