Passage may be nearing the finish line

Allentown, PA — Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) announces that Rich Hobbs, President & CEO of Manufacturers Resource Center, spoke on behalf of manufacturers at a virtual roundtable discussion hosted by Rep. Susan Wild and distinguished guest U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo on July 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM, to discuss supply chain and American manufacturing. The roundtable was not only a listening session for the government officials but also an update on the pending bipartisan legislation known as the Innovation Act/American Competes Legislation.

Passage of the America COMPETES Act would deliver massive investments in the current and future success of American businesses. Innovation & Technology Hubs in communities like Lehigh Valley PA would bolster manufacturing, the supply chain, help resolve workforce shortages, and increase the domestic production of semiconductors.  House legislation is more costly than the Senate bill and would deliver $52 billion in subsidies to the semiconductor industry.

Other manufacturers that fielded questions at the roundtable included Mike Lovati, Head of Group Purchasing of North America, Mack/Volvo; Darrell Engel, Senior Director of Global Manufacturing, Allentown Site Leader, Infinera; and Ed Blair, President, Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.
