Manufacturers Resource Center Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification course is an intensive 2-day analytical and process-focused training program focused on improving business processes using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) approach.

Participants will create process maps, fishbone diagrams, understand basic statistical measures, complete data demographics exercises, measure and analyze process capability, construct Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts using Minitab statistical software.

Yellow Belt Training Agenda

  • Day 1 | DEFINE
    Project Charter, SIPOC, Voice of Customer, Multi-level Pareto (Minitab Introduction)
  • Days 1 & 2 | MEASURE
    Six Sigma Metrics (card drop exercise), Basic Stats (Graphical Summary, Histogram, Dotplots, Boxplots, Time Series), Basic Tools (Process Map, Fishbone Diagram, XY Matrix, FMEA), Common and Special Causes, Process Capability Analysis (catapult exercise), MSA (Gage and Attribute R&R)
  • Day 2 | ANALYZE
    Hypothesis Testing, Basic Tools – 1-Sample t, 2-Sample t, Paired t, 1Proportion, 2 Proportions, Power and Sample size
  • Day 2 | Intro to IMPROVE and CONTROL
    Time Series and Control Charts, Control and Reaction Plan

Essential Course Requirements and Prerequisites

A laptop with the free 30-day Minitab trial software must be installed no earlier than one week prior to attendance. There are no prerequisites to take this course.

Richard Titus, Jr., Ph.D. | Titus Consulting

Richard Titus, Jr., Ph.D Titus Consulting imageRichard is a Master Black Belt who spent nearly 20 years at Ingersoll-Rand in a variety of positions ranging from operations management, information systems, materials management, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, and more.  Dr. Titus was certified as a Black Belt and Master Black Belt by Six Sigma Qualtec.  He completed executive training with the Mahler Institute, Demand Flow Technology training at the John Costanza Institute of Technology and completed Lean Training with Six Sigma Qualtec and is a certified nuclear auditor and a certified trainer for DDI.  Dr. Titus earned a B.S. and M.S. in Engineering from Lehigh University and has been a lecturer or adjunct faculty member with Lehigh’s College of Business since 2000.  He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University in May 2019 focusing his research on supplier selection.  Dr. Titus has supported over 350 Lean Six Sigma projects in over 50+ companies resulting in over $50 million dollars of real savings.
