Media Loves What’s So Cool About Manufacturing® Video Contests

MRC is celebrating the 10^th Anniversary of  their Lehigh Valley  “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video contest. In addition to the Lehigh Valley contest that includes three counties, the second is the Berks County contest that also includes Schuylkill and Carbon counties.   The contests  pair school districts with manufacturers such as B. Braun Medical, Crayola, Orasure, Mack trucks, Tyber Medical, and many more.

Voting for the Lehigh Valley contest is March 1-3, 2023 and the awards event is March 14th at the ArtsQuest SteelStacks in Bethlehem.  The Berks Schuylkill contest is in it’s 7th year. Voting is March 8-10, 2023.  The Berks Schuylkill awards are on March 21st at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.

Voting for the “Viewers Choice” Award is open to everyone on the “What’s So Cool” website at www.WhatsSoCool.org where all the student team videos  reside.  The Viewers Choice awards, along with winners in 10 other categories, at each respective event, culminate with much publicity and fanfare.  It’s very exciting for everyone as the winning teams are announced.

More than 100 community corporations are proud to be sponsors. An important extension of this program is MRC’s signature “Dream Teams” of young manufacturing professionals who are “ambassadors” for careers in manufacturing and visit schools to speak to more than 3,000 students annually.  MRC’s Director of Workforce Initiatives is Karen Buck. She manages both contests for MRC and is Statewide Program Coordinator, as well.  IRC and MEP Centers that are interested in forming their own video contest outreach, and would like more information, are invited to contact President & CEO, Rich Hobbs at (610) 628.4640.
