MRC Hosts Manufacturing & Trade Roundtable with German Officials & Congressman Charlie Dent
On Thursday, April 4, 2013, Jack Pfunder hosted Congressman Charlie Dent and a delegation of officials from Kaiserslautern, Germany, on a visit to the Lehigh Valley. The roundtable was held at Iacocca Hall at Lehigh University’s Mountain Top Campus. Part of the day’s agenda included a roundtable discussion on economic policies, including manufacturing and trade, and how to close the manufacturing skills gap. Later they visited with Lehigh University and PPL, an energy and utility holding company.
Nine local manufacturers attended that included: Wacker Chemical Corporation; Cyoptics, Inc.; Bosch-Rexroth Corporation; B. Braun Medical, Inc.; Dynalene; Everson Tesla, Inc.; Reynolds & Reynolds Electronics, Inc.; and Applied Separations
The German visitors included the Lord High Mayor of Kaiserslautern, Dr. Klaus Weichel; Dr. Christian Madler, Director of Intensive Care Medicine at the Westpfalz-Klinikum (WKK) in Kaiserslautern; Dr. Konrad Wolf, President of the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern; Mr. Markus Vollmer, chief executive of SWK, the city-owned energy company; and Ms. Andrea Oliver, International Affairs and U.S. Advisor to the Lord Mayor of the city.
