On November 5, 2024, 21 participants gathered for a transformative day of learning and growth at our one-day workshop, Mastering Conflict Resolution with TKI. Together, participants explored the dynamics of workplace conflict and honed their resolution skills using the Thomas-Kilmann Instrument (TKI).

Key Takeaways from the Workshop

The day was filled with engaging activities and meaningful discussions that left a lasting impression. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Deeper Understanding of Conflict: Participants gained insights into the nature of workplace conflict, learning how unresolved issues can impact individuals and teams.
  • Exploration of the TKI Model: Through an in-depth introduction to the five conflict-handling styles – Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating – attendees completed an assessment which identified their unique approaches to managing conflict.
  • Practical Skills Development: Interactive exercises, including conflict reflections, peer feedback and case studies, helped participants apply the Circle of Conflict and TKI principles to real-world scenarios, enhancing their confidence in addressing conflicts effectively.

Participant Feedback

The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with attendees highlighting the practical value of the training:

  • “The TKI assessment opened my eyes to my default conflict-handling style and how I can adapt it to different situations.”
  • “The exercises were a game-changer. I feel more equipped to handle difficult conversations at work.”
  • “The laid-back approach was very nice. The information was presented in nice and easily understandable sections.”

Looking Ahead

As participants returned to their workplaces, they carried with them a renewed perspective on conflict resolution and a toolkit of strategies to foster collaboration and productivity. We look forward to hearing about their successes in applying these skills and continuing to support their professional development.
