Introduction to Lean Manufacturing | Fall 2026

Event Date:

September 10, 2026

Event Time:

8:30 AM

Event Location:

Manufacturers Resource Center, 7200A Windsor Drive, Allentown, PA, 18106, USA

Most organizations are busy, but not always efficient.

This one-day workshop introduces the core principles of Lean through an engaging, hands-on simulation based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, allowing participants to experience the impact of waste, flow, and continuous improvement in a realistic production environment.

Participants will take part in a multi-round simulation that mirrors a traditional manufacturing process and progressively transforms it using Lean principles. Through each round, teams will identify inefficiencies, implement improvements, and immediately see the
impact on performance metrics such as lead time, throughput, quality, and inventory.

The workshop introduces key Lean concepts including waste identification, flow, pull systems, standard work, and continuous improvement. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the session emphasizes learning by doing, helping participants understand not
just what Lean is, but how it works in practice.

As the simulation evolves, participants will apply foundational tools such as 5S, visual management, and basic problem solving to improve the system. The experience highlights the importance of teamwork, communication, and structured thinking in driving operational improvement.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a clear understanding of Lean principles and how they apply to both manufacturing and business processes. They will leave with practical insights and a shared language that can be used to support continuous improvement efforts within their organization.

INSTRUCTOR

Gene Kaschak | VP, Continuous Improvement & Leadership Development Strategy

Gene Kaschak

Gene Kaschak brings a hands-on, people-first approach to Lean manufacturing and workforce development at MRC. He leads MRC’s Lean Manufacturing Programs, helping manufacturers build practical, lasting capability in Lean, not just theory. At the core of his work is a strong belief that sustainable improvement comes from valuing and developing the people doing the work.

He is the driving force behind the Foundations of Lean Factory Experience, an immersive training environment that simulates a real factory floor. Participants gain hands-on experience and leave with skills they can apply immediately.

Gene partners with manufacturers across the region to deliver customized Lean solutions, including process improvement, workforce training, and problem-solving. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and is a certified TWI Job Instruction and Toyota Kata trainer.
